These data represent the watershed of the Northern Gulf of Mexico as recognized by the Northern Gulf Institute (NGI). They have been adapted from the USGS 1:250k Hydrologic Units for the continental United States
Purpose:
The purpose of these data is to graphically represent the entire NGI watershed as well as provide the ability to conduct analyses at the local level based on USGS Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) Cataloging Units.
Supplemental_Information:
These data, representing only the NGI area of interest, are a subset of the USGS 1:250k scale Hydorologic Units of the United States.

Process_Description:
USGS HUC Watershed data were exported from ArcInfo Coverage format to Shapefile format. The data were then clipped to the NGI watershed boundary using GIS.

Cataloging Unit - A cataloging unit, the smallest element in the hierarchy of hydrologic units, is a geographic area representing part or all of a surface drainage basin, a combination of drainage basins, or a distinct hydrologic feature. These units subdivide the subregions and accounting units into smaller areas.
