Welcome to the Northern
Gulf Institute
Beginning in July 2006,
the National Coastal Data
Development Center (NCDDC),
with its partners, the
National Marine Fisheries
Service (NMFS),
Mississippi State
University (MSU),
Naval Research Laboratory
(NRL),
Naval Oceanographic Office
(NAVO) and
Radiance
Technologies have
succeeded in establishing
the Ecosystems Data
Assembly Center (EDAC).
The EDAC directly
supports the work of the
Northern Gulf Institute
(NGI), a NOAA Cooperative
Institute. Working in
conjunction with the NGI,
the EDAC is developing the
Information Technology (IT)
infrastructure to support
ecosystem observations data
and other related data
collected in the Gulf.
These data will be made
available to scientists and
researchers via the EDAC to
support their research
interests and to increase
their knowledge of the
unique physical,
biological, and chemical
characteristics of the Gulf
of Mexico Regional
Ecosystem.
